A Creative Sunday in Philadelphia

Yesterday, as I sat down to reflect on my Sunday, I felt a strong urge to get outside and go for a walk. Despite the sweltering 90° heat and humidity, I was determined to move my body and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Philadelphia. My destination? The historic Old City district, a treasure trove of inspiration.

During my stroll, I stumbled upon a charming vintage shop. Curiosity piqued, I decided to explore its offerings, particularly in search of unique glassware for my ongoing “Genie in a Bottle” series. This creative project has been close to my heart since 2017, but, as many can relate, life and the demands of running a full-time photography business often lead to distractions.

As I browsed through the store, I came across an eye-catching Snoopy glass. This sparked an idea that had never crossed my mind before: incorporating my dog’s silhouette into the series. Until now, my focus had primarily been on capturing the essence of women, but I felt it was time to take a leap and introduce a new perspective.

I’m excited to share the first shot from this new direction! In this photograph, I’ve challenged myself to create a dynamic composition that showcases both the glassware and my dog. She’s remarkably well-trained, so I’m looking forward to experimenting with poses like “downward dog” and “sit pretty.” Capturing the perfect shot is a bit tricky, but I’m dedicated to making it work.

For those interested in photography, I utilized a technique called rack focusing to bring all the elements together in the frame. Dogs can be a bit fidgety, so patience is key!

As I embark on this creative journey, I’m also exploring opportunities to showcase my work in art shows. If you have any recommendations or are interested in attending, I would love to hear from you! Additionally, I’m planning to offer limited edition prints of this series, which I’m incredibly excited about.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my adventure. If you’re interested in a creative photography session or would like to be part of the “Genie in a Bottle” series, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your support means the world to me, and I look forward to seeing you at the studio soon!
