Actor Headshots and Model Portfolio
Although I photographed this NYC Actor headshots and model portfolio in Philadelphia, I also travel to NYC upon request. Danielle was traveling through Philadelphia to visit family and wanted to have her portfolio updated. We met at my photo studio, where we covered some studio shots on white and then grey. From there we ventured around the corner with Oreo (my new rescue pup) and shot some environmental portraits.
Danielle Catté is a sculptor, painter, poet, and actor. I recall from our previous conversations that she not only worked at the clay studio in Old City, she also created murals in LA. Keeping this in mind, I wanted to create portraits of her with colorful murals blurred out in the background. Also took into account that she is world traveled, so to communicate her adventurous side, I included the motorcycle into a few shots.
When working with clients, its about their story, so getting to know their interest and goals, helps me create a better portrait. I find the best way to learn more about a person is to start in the studio. In the studio we work with some solid backgrounds. It’s like stripping away all the details and focusing on just the expression and body language. Working in the studio also allows me to figure out my subjects best angles, get them comfortable, and at the same time learn a few things about them. After the studio shots I always take my subjects outside.
The outdoors are my stage just the same as the inside. I have cafe’s near by, bars, restaurants, urban parks, and a rooftop with a view of the city skyline.
