Lulu Kollections Product Line For Website Content
Lulu Kollections is a new startup e-commerce cosmetic line. I find most startups lift images off the web and soon come to realize they need their own images. They need a voice of their own.
When working with products its important to be mindful of consistency, reflections, and concept of the story behind the product. You must have a theme and a story to tell. How does one convey this with objects? That is where I come in. I help with the styling and lighting to set the mood.
My client wanted her products to be playful and creative. To convey this message I drew a heart with the lip gloss and deconstructed the powder elements outside of products packaging. I also lit the objects in such a way that nothing outside of its element reflected, but rather the element was free of everything and soon could be in your hands.
It is pretty endless what you can do with objects and lighting. For me it is exciting to challenge the concepts and to take it beyond your expectations. Why keep the elements in one place when you can take it beyond that. For example the blush; I broke it up and placed it outside of the packaging. This approach is an attention grabber. It allows you to subconsciously think about the elements outside of its realm and to engage a feeling of trust.
I am a strong believer of “the devil is in the details”. I prefer to shoot in camera rather than rely on the crutch of photoshop to fix errors. Don’t get me wrong there is a time and place to take it further with adobe software tools. However for e-commerce I feel it’s best to shoot in real time and to provide the digital negatives, in the raw with perfection, so that a client can quickly upload it and start selling.
I am looking forward to our next session which will be using a models lips. Stay tuned for the next session and enjoy these sneak peak images. To see more visit: https://lulakollection.com
